For the Brownies:
1cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
8oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
1 1/4cups granulated sugar
1/2cup packed brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4cup all-purpose flour
1/4cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven: to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
Melt butter and chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate together, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat.
Combine sugars: Whisk in the granulated and brown sugars until well combined. Let cool slightly.
Add eggs and vanilla: Whisk in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla.
Combine dry ingredients: Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until just combined.
Final steps: Fold in chocolate chips or chunks if using. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
Notes
For extra gooey brownies, slightly underbake and let them set while cooling.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet finish.
These brownies store well at room temperature for up to 3 days or can be frozen.
