Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
Filling
- 1 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 1 cup carrots, grated
- 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with water and mix until a rough dough forms. Knead the dough thoroughly on a clean surface until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes to relax the gluten, making it easier to roll out.
- Cook the Filling: Heat a pan over medium heat and add minced garlic and sliced green onions. Sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Add finely chopped cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped mushrooms. Cook the vegetables until tender, stirring occasionally, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
- Shape the Dumplings: Roll out the rested dough on a lightly floured surface into a thin sheet. Use a round cutter or a glass to cut out dough circles, approximately 3 inches in diameter. Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and press the edges firmly to seal, ensuring no air bubbles remain.
- Steam the Dumplings: Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil. Place the dumplings on parchment paper or a lightly oiled steamer basket to prevent sticking. Steam the dumplings for 10 to 15 minutes, until the dough is cooked through and slightly translucent.
- Serve: Remove the steamed dumplings carefully and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce such as soy sauce mixed with a little rice vinegar or chili oil.

- Do not overfill the dumplings to avoid breaking them while sealing.
- Steaming on parchment paper or a lightly oiled surface prevents sticking.
