For the Crust:

- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cold butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly. Press the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 20 minutes until lightly golden.
- Make the Custard Filling: In a saucepan, heat milk until steaming. In a bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook until thickened. Stir in vanilla.
- Assemble the Squares: Pour the custard over the baked crust. Smooth the top and refrigerate until set, about 2 hours.
- Finish and Serve: Dust the chilled custard squares with powdered sugar. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
