- 12 oz fettuccine pasta
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low and gradually stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce and toss to combine. Use reserved pasta water a little at a time to thin the sauce if needed.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best texture and flavor.
- Do not let the sauce boil after adding the cheese to prevent it from separating.
- Feel free to add cooked chicken, shrimp, or vegetables for variety.
