  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the dark chocolate mousse:

  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the ganache topping:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: Mix buttermilk, hot water, oil, eggs, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  4. Blend batter: Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth. Bake.
