- 1 box devil’s food cake mix
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (for ganache)
- Cherries (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and almond extract until well combined.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- To make the ganache, heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and pour over dark chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Pour the ganache over the cooled cake and spread evenly.
- Garnish with cherries if desired. Let set before serving.
