Toasted Italian Sandwich

A warm and melty Italian-style hoagie loaded with cured meats, cheese, and fresh toppings, toasted until perfectly crisp.

  • 1 hoagie bun
  • 1/2 Tbsp garlic basil pesto
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices hard salami
  • 8 slices pepperoni
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • Red onion, sliced
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Lettuce, crisp
  • Pepperoncini slices
  • Black olives, sliced
  • Olive oil & red wine vinegar, for drizzling
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Dried oregano, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 °F (150 °C).
  2. Slice hoagie bun lengthwise (not all the way) and lay open on a parchment-lined sheet.
  3. Spread ½ Tbsp pesto on each inside half.
  4. Layer ham, salami, pepperoni, and mozzarella on both halves.
  5. Bake 10 min, until bread is toasted and cheese melts.
  6. Add onion, tomato, lettuce, pepperoncini, and olives on one half.
  7. Drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar.
  8. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
  9. Fold sandwich closed and serve warm.

Notes

  • Customize toppings to your taste: avocado, roasted peppers, or pickles work great.
  • For a vegetarian version, swap meats for roasted vegetables.
  • Use ciabatta in place of hoagie bun for a crunchier texture.
