Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 227 g cream cheese, softened
- 113 g sour cream
- 170 g cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp taco seasoning
- 80 ml salsa (taco or picante sauce)
- 1-2 jalapenos, seeded and finely diced
- 15 g cilantro, finely chopped
- 170 g cooked chicken, shredded
Wraps
- 6 flour tortillas, 20 cm (8 inch) diameter
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the softened cream cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning, salsa, finely diced jalapenos, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded cooked chicken, and chopped cilantro until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
- Spread filling on tortillas: Lay one flour tortilla flat on a clean surface or plate and evenly spread approximately 30 to 45 ml (2 to 3 tablespoons) of the prepared filling over the entire surface of the tortilla.
- Roll tortillas: Roll the tortilla tightly into a cylinder shape to ensure the filling is compact inside. Place the rolled tortilla on a plate. Repeat this process with the remaining tortillas and filling until all are rolled.
- Chill to firm up: Refrigerate the rolled tortillas for 2 hours. This chilling step helps the roll-ups to firm up and allows the flavors to meld together for a tastier bite.
- Slice the rolls: After chilling, remove the rolls from the refrigerator. Slice off the ends of each roll, then cut each roll into bite-sized pieces suitable for serving as finger food or appetizers.
- Serve and garnish: Arrange the tortilla roll-up slices on a serving platter and garnish with additional chopped cilantro as desired to add a fresh, herbal note and visual appeal.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked shredded chicken with cooked ground beef or turkey if preferred.
- For a spicier version, leave the jalapeno seeds or add extra diced jalapenos.
- Use whole wheat tortillas for a healthier twist.
- Prepare the roll-ups a day ahead for even better flavor, keeping them refrigerated until serving.
- These roll-ups are best served chilled as a cold appetizer.
