For the filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water

For the pie:

  • 1 (9-inch) refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup crushed tortilla chips (optional topping)
  • Chopped green onions, tomatoes, and olives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the filling: In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess grease, then add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for a few minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the pie: Press the pie crust into a pie dish. Spread salsa on the crust. Combine cooked beef with sour cream and egg, then spoon over the salsa. Add cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Top with crushed tortilla chips if desired.
  4. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and set. Let cool slightly before garnishing with green onions, tomatoes, and olives. Serve warm.

  • For a spicier kick, use hot salsa and pepper jack cheese.
