Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Egg and Molasses: Add the egg and molasses, mixing until well combined.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape and Bake: Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until the edges are set but centers are still soft.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
