1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
3/4cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4cup finely chopped fresh strawberries
For the glaze:
1cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons strawberry puree
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard doughnut pan.
Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
Combine wet and dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Add strawberries: Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
Bake: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan and bake for 10-12 minutes until done.
Make glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, strawberry puree, and vanilla for the glaze.
Glaze doughnuts: Dip the cooled doughnuts into the glaze and allow excess to drip off.
Serve: Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
Use freeze-dried strawberries for the glaze if fresh ones are too watery.
