These Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Brisket Tacos are a delicious Tex-Mex twist on traditional tacos. Tender, flavorful shredded beef brisket cooked low and slow in barbecue sauce, then piled high in tortillas with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Beef Brisket:

  • 3 pounds beef brisket, trimmed of excess fat

Seasoning:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce:

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Other:

  • 12 small flour or corn tortillas
  • coleslaw or shredded lettuce for topping
  • pickled red onions (optional)
  • extra barbecue sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare Brisket: Season brisket with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and chili powder. Sear in a skillet until browned.
  2. Cook in Slow Cooker: Place brisket in slow cooker with onion and garlic. Pour sauce over brisket. Cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 4–5 hours.
  3. Shred and Serve: Remove brisket, shred, and return to slow cooker. Serve in tortillas with toppings.

Notes

  • You can prepare the brisket the day before and reheat it in the slow cooker for easy entertaining.
  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
