  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Oat Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cut into cubes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Make the Oat Topping: In a separate bowl, combine oats, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or on low for 4 to 5 hours. Remove the lid for the last 30 minutes to crisp the topping.
  4. Serve: Enjoy warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
