Savory Breakfast Pop-Tarts are a delicious twist on the classic sweet treat, perfect for a hearty morning meal. Flaky puff pastry filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar cheese, these savory pastries are sure to become a breakfast favorite.

Ingredients

Puff Pastry:

  • 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry, thawed

Filling:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 6 strips cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Egg Wash:

  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream

Optional:

  • Hot sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Scramble two eggs in a skillet with salt and pepper. Remove from heat when just set.
  3. Assemble the Pop-Tarts: Roll out puff pastry sheets on a floured surface, cut into rectangles. Place filling ingredients on half of the rectangles, cover with the remaining pastry, seal edges with a fork, and vent with a slit on top.
  4. Brush with Egg Wash: Beat remaining eggs with milk, brush over the tops of the pop-tarts.
  5. Bake: Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden and puffed. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can customize the fillings by using sausage or sautéed veggies instead of bacon.
  • For extra flavor, add hot sauce inside or on top of the pop-tarts.
