Cookies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Decorations:

  • Red candy-coated chocolates (for noses)
  • Mini pretzels (for antlers)
  • Mini chocolate chips or candy eyes (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream wet ingredients: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Mix dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape and bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, flatten slightly, and shape into ovals. Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set.
  6. Decorate: While warm, press two mini pretzels for antlers, two mini chocolate chips or candy eyes for eyes, and a red candy in the center for the nose. Let cool completely to set decorations.

Notes

  • To help pretzels and candies stay in place, lightly press again after a minute of cooling.
  • These festive cookies are great for holiday cookie exchanges or decorating with kids.
