Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tsp salt
For the Chicken Topping
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
For Assembling
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 20 pepperoni slices (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, warm water, and salt. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes until it doubles in size.
- Cook the chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken on both sides until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the pizza: Roll out the risen dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Place the seared chicken breasts on top of the dough. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the chicken, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top. Arrange pepperoni slices as desired.
- Bake the pizza: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the assembled pizza for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden.
- Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and enjoy while warm.
Notes
- If you prefer a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
- You can substitute Italian seasoning with dried oregano and basil for similar flavor.
- For a lower calorie option, use part-skim mozzarella cheese.
- Chicken can be grilled instead of seared if preferred.
- Make sure the chicken is fully cooked before assembling the pizza to avoid undercooked meat.
