For the Steak:

  • 1 1/2 pounds flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak: In a medium bowl, toss the sliced steak with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and cornstarch until well coated. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Stir-Fry: In the same skillet, sauté the onion and bell peppers until slightly tender. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Return the beef to the skillet.
  4. Make the Sauce: Whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Pour the sauce into the skillet and simmer until thickened.
  5. Serve: Serve the pepper steak hot over cooked rice.

Notes

  • You can add mushrooms, snap peas, or broccoli for extra veggies.
  • For more heat, add crushed red pepper flakes or a splash of chili oil.
