1lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
4 slices rye bread
4 slices Swiss cheese
2 tbsp butter (divided)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Caramelize the Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter with olive oil. Add sliced onions, cook until golden brown, about 15–20 minutes. Season with salt.
Prepare the Secret Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickles, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl; set aside.
Shape and Cook the Patties: Divide ground beef into patties, season with salt and pepper. Cook in a skillet until browned.
Assemble the Patty Melts: Spread secret sauce on bread slices. Add cheese, beef patty, caramelized onions, more cheese, and top with bread.
Grill the Patty Melts: Cook sandwiches in buttered skillet until golden and cheese melts, about 3–4 minutes per side.
