Description
A healthier Panda Express favorite, String Bean Chicken combines tender chicken breast, crisp green beans, and onions stir-fried in a light ginger soy sauce.

- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced thin
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cups green beans, trimmed
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss chicken slices with cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Set aside to marinate for 10–15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken and stir-fry until browned and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add green beans and a splash of water. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they start to soften.
- Add onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Return chicken to the pan and add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and chicken broth.
- Stir well and cook for 2–3 more minutes until everything is well coated and heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over rice.
Notes
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce salt content.
- For extra spice, add red pepper flakes or chili garlic sauce.
- You can substitute chicken with tofu for a vegetarian version.
