Description

A healthier Panda Express favorite, String Bean Chicken combines tender chicken breast, crisp green beans, and onions stir-fried in a light ginger soy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced thin
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups green beans, trimmed
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken slices with cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Set aside to marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken and stir-fry until browned and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add green beans and a splash of water. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they start to soften.
  5. Add onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Return chicken to the pan and add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and chicken broth.
  7. Stir well and cook for 2–3 more minutes until everything is well coated and heated through.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over rice.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce salt content.
  • For extra spice, add red pepper flakes or chili garlic sauce.
  • You can substitute chicken with tofu for a vegetarian version.
