Units Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, and orange extract (if using) and mix until well combined.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
  5. Bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
  6. Cool and serve: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a stronger orange flavor, increase the zest or orange extract.
  • These cookies freeze well—store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
