Steak:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
Pasta:
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3cups beef broth
1cup barbecue sauce (smoky or hickory style)
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
12ounces uncooked penne pasta
1/2cup heavy cream
1cup shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add steak pieces and sear until browned but not fully cooked. Set aside.
Add onion to the pot and cook until softened. Stir in garlic, then add beef broth, barbecue sauce, honey, smoked paprika, black pepper, and pasta. Bring to a boil, then simmer until pasta is al dente.
Return steak to the pot, cook briefly, then stir in heavy cream and cheddar cheese until creamy. Let it rest before serving. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
Use a smoky or hickory-style BBQ sauce for the best flavor.
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes.
Swap the sirloin with ribeye or strip steak if desired.
