Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 12 ounces short pasta (penne, rotini, or shells)
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a large pot or deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Stir in diced onion and garlic and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes, stirring to combine.
  3. Cook Pasta: Pour in the beef broth and milk, then add the pasta. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  4. Finish the Dish: Stir in Parmesan cheese, butter, and heavy cream. Mix well until everything is creamy and the cheese has melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let sit for a few minutes to thicken, then garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add a handful of spinach or peas at the end for extra veggies.
  • Use half-and-half instead of cream for a lighter version.
