For the Dough:
1cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
For the Garlic Butter Topping:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes, or until foamy.
Add the flour, salt, and softened butter. Mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead by hand or with a dough hook for about 8 minutes, until the dough is soft and elastic.
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 7-inch log and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart. Cover and let rise for another 20–30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake breadsticks for 12–14 minutes, or until lightly golden.
While they bake, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and salt. Brush over warm breadsticks as soon as they come out of the oven.
Serve warm and soft—just like the restaurant version.
Notes
These freeze beautifully—just reheat in a 300°F oven for 5–7 minutes.
For extra garlicky flavor, double the garlic powder in the topping.
