Cake:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water

Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare Batter: In a large bowl, mix cake mix, sour cream, eggs, oil, and water. Beat until smooth.
  3. Make Cinnamon-Sugar Mix: Combine sugar, cinnamon, and nuts if using in a small bowl.
  4. Layer Batter: Pour half of the batter into the pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mix, then add the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest of the mix.
  5. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan.
  6. Prepare Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar and milk, drizzle over the cake.

Notes

  • Try using vanilla or spice cake mix for a different flavor.
  • Add nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar for a warm kick.
  • Store covered at room temperature for 3 days.
