  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter or shortening, cubed
  • 1/2 cup cold water (add more if needed)

For the Beef Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

For the Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water, beaten

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pastry: Mix flour, turmeric, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add water, form dough, and chill.
  2. Make the Filling: Sauté onions, garlic, add beef, spices, broth, and breadcrumbs. Cool.
  3. Assemble the Patties: Roll out dough, cut circles, add filling, fold, and seal edges.
  4. Bake: Brush with egg wash, bake until golden brown.
  5. Serve: Enjoy hot!

Notes

  • Patties can be frozen before baking—just thaw slightly and bake as directed.
