Caramel:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Flan Layer:

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Cake Layer:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as directed on the box)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Make the caramel: Combine sugar and water in a saucepan, cook until golden amber, then pour into a greased Bundt pan.
  3. Prepare the flan: Blend condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla; pour over caramel.
  4. Prepare the cake batter: Mix yellow cake according to package directions and pour over the flan.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil, place in a water bath, bake for 75 minutes.
  6. Cool and chill: Let cool in the water bath, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
