Description

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these homemade Belgian waffles are perfect for breakfast or brunch and can be topped with your favorite fruits, syrups, or whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Belgian waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter may be slightly lumpy.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or a small amount of oil.
  6. Pour the recommended amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Remove the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
  8. Serve warm with your choice of toppings.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, let the waffles rest on a wire rack instead of stacking them.
  • You can freeze leftover waffles and reheat in a toaster for a quick breakfast.
  • Substitute whole wheat flour for a healthier version.
