Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Layering:

  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes (about 3 medium)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Combine: Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer: Place half of the potatoes in the baking dish. Spoon half of the beef mixture over the potatoes. Repeat layers.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 50-60 minutes until potatoes are tender. Uncover, add cheddar cheese, and bake until melted and bubbly.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or cream of celery.
  • For added flavor, mix in frozen peas or corn with the meat mixture.
