Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

Cheese Layer:

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (or ricotta)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Additional Ingredients:

  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Add garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine sour cream and cottage cheese.
  4. Layer Casserole: Spread half of the noodles in the baking dish. Top with half of the cheese mixture and meat sauce. Repeat layers. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • You can use ricotta instead of cottage cheese.
