  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread (about 16 inches)

Garlic Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Prepare bread: Slice the loaf in half lengthwise and place both halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Make garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Spread butter: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
  5. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the butter is melted.

  7. Serve: Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • For cheesy garlic bread, top with shredded mozzarella before baking.
  • Leftovers can be wrapped and reheated in foil the next day.
