For the brownies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the coconut-pecan topping:

  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare the brownies: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan. Mix melted butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla, then fold in dry ingredients. Bake for 25–30 minutes.
  2. Make the coconut-pecan topping: Combine milk, sugar, yolks, and butter in a saucepan. Cook until thickened, then stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans. Spread over cooled brownies and chill before slicing.
