Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish:

  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Chicken: Whisk eggs with salt and pepper. Mix cornstarch and flour. Dip chicken in egg, then coat with flour-cornstarch mix.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Heat oil, fry chicken until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Sauce: Whisk soy sauce, vinegar, hoisin, water, sugar, and cornstarch. Sauté garlic, ginger, and red pepper. Add sauce, cook until thick.
