Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or similar), sliced into strips
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp honey
- 4 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Toppings and Serving
- Corn or flour tortillas
- Shredded cabbage
- Sliced red onion
- Fresh cilantro
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Season the beef. Pat the beef strips dry and season them evenly with salt and black pepper to enhance the flavor before cooking.
- Sauté the garlic. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté just until it becomes fragrant, about 1 minute, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
- Cook the beef. Add the seasoned beef strips to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned on all sides and cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes depending on thickness.
- Make the sauce. Stir in the honey, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce into the cooked beef. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and caramelize, coating the beef strips beautifully.
- Warm the tortillas. While the beef finishes cooking, warm your tortillas by wrapping them in foil and placing them in a warm oven or heating them briefly in a dry skillet until pliable and heated through.
- Assemble the tacos. Spoon the garlic butter honey BBQ beef onto each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, sliced red onion, fresh cilantro leaves, and finish with a generous squeeze of lime juice for brightness.
Notes
- You can substitute beef with chicken or plant-based protein if desired.
- Adjust the amount of honey and BBQ sauce to taste for a sweeter or tangier profile.
- For added heat, consider adding sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
- Use corn tortillas for gluten-free tacos or flour tortillas for a softer texture.
- Leftover beef mixture can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
