  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the cookie layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the brownie layer: Whisk melted butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread in the pan.
  3. Prepare the cookie layer: Cream butter with sugars, add egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips. Drop spoonfuls over the brownie batter.
  4. Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool before slicing.

Notes
