Ingredients

Units Scale

Jalapeño Popper Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced pickled jalapeños
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Breading:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Additional:

  • 1012 jalapeños, halved and deseeded
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Fill the Jalapeños: Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the halved and deseeded jalapeños.
  3. Breading: Set up three separate bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Dredge each filled jalapeño first in flour, then egg, and finally breadcrumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  4. Fry: Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the breaded jalapeños in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Serve: Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, leave some of the jalapeño seeds in the filling.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough to ensure a crispy coating.
  • These poppers can also be baked in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for a healthier alternative.
