1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
For the Sausage Filling:
1pound ground pork sausage

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Black pepper to taste

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Caramelize Onions: In a skillet, heat olive oil, add onions and salt, cook until caramelized. Stir in sugar and balsamic vinegar.
Prepare Sausage Filling: Mix ground sausage with thyme, garlic powder, black pepper, and caramelized onions.
Assemble Rolls: Roll out puff pastry, cut into strips, spoon sausage mixture, add cheese if desired, fold pastry over filling, seal edges.
Bake: Place rolls on baking sheet, brush with egg wash, bake for 25–30 minutes until golden.
