Description

A quick and flavorful dipping sauce perfect for egg rolls, combining sweet, tangy, and savory notes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and honey or sugar.
  2. Add the sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well.
  3. If desired, stir in red pepper flakes for heat and green onions for garnish.
  4. Let the sauce sit for 5-10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Serve with freshly cooked egg rolls.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness or saltiness by adding more honey or soy sauce to taste.
  • For a thicker sauce, add a small amount of cornstarch slurry and heat until slightly thickened.
  • This sauce also works great as a dipping sauce for dumplings or spring rolls.
