Ingredients

Units Scale

Cake:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined—do not overmix.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the pound cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
