Ingredients
UnitsScale
1cup (227g) unsalted butter
1 1/4cups (250g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2cups (250g) all-purpose flour
1 tbsp matcha green tea powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brown butter and sugar until combined.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Scoop out tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and slightly golden.
Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Use high-quality matcha for the best flavor and vibrant color.
Chilling the dough helps prevent spreading during baking.
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
