Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat each chicken breast with olive oil, then dip in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  4. Place the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown on the outside.
  6. Remove from the oven, top each chicken breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use whole wheat breadcrumbs.
  • Serve with a side of pasta or a green salad.
  • To make it spicier, add red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
