Dough:
1cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
3 to 3 1/2cups all-purpose flour
For Finishing:
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Mix the Ingredients: Add the softened butter, egg, and salt, and mix to combine. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead and Rise: Knead the dough for 6–8 minutes until smooth. Let it rise until doubled in size, then shape into rolls.
Final Rise and Bake: Let the rolls rise again, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
Brush with Butter: Brush the warm rolls with melted butter before serving.
Notes
For a softer texture, use whole milk.
Refrigerate the dough overnight for convenience.
Try sprinkling sea salt or herbs on top before baking.
