Cranberry Sauce:

  • 1 bag (12 oz) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the Cranberries: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, sugar, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10–15 minutes until most cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  2. Add Flavor: Stir in orange zest if using, cook for 1 more minute. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  3. Chill and Serve: Transfer to a bowl, refrigerate until ready to serve. Sauce will thicken as it chills.

Notes

  • For added flavor, replace half of the water with orange juice.
  • This sauce can be made several days ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
