  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Add-ins:

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are just set.
  5. Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For chewy cookies, underbake slightly and let them finish setting on the pan.
  • Dough can be chilled ahead of time or frozen for later use.
