Ingredients

Units Scale

Ingredients:

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges each)
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 oz) lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7UP)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Wrap the apples: Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll triangle, starting at the wide end and rolling tightly. Place the wrapped apples seam-side down in the baking dish.
  3. Prepare the sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sugar and cinnamon, stirring until combined but not fully dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Assemble and bake: Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings. Slowly pour the soda around the edges of the pan (not directly over the dumplings). Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an irresistible treat.
  • You can use other tart apples like Honeycrisp or Pink Lady.
  • For added crunch, sprinkle with chopped pecans before baking.
