Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to even thickness)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • vegetable oil for frying

Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons water + 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Honey Garlic Sauce: In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and black pepper. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl and whisk into the sauce. Simmer another 1–2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Chicken Preparation: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs and water. Dip each chicken breast first in the egg mixture, then dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
  3. Frying: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot (350°F), fry chicken breasts for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Serving: Drizzle or brush the warm honey garlic sauce generously over the chicken before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken by repeating the egg and flour steps.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or roasted vegetables.
