1lb ground beef
1/2cup breadcrumbs
1/4cup milk
1 egg
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
1cup sliced mushrooms
1 tbsp flour
1 1/2cups beef broth
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp Dijon mustard
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Form mixture into small meatballs.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add mushrooms and cook until softened.
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in beef broth, ketchup, and Dijon mustard, scraping up any browned bits.
Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through and gravy thickens.
Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Notes
You can make the meatballs ahead and freeze for later use.
For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the gravy.
Use ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative to beef.
