Delicious Korean Ground Beef Bowl

A quick and flavorful weeknight bowl featuring savory‑sweet Korean‑style ground beef served over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup reduced‑sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups hot cooked white or brown rice
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and garlic, breaking meat into crumbles, until no longer pink; drain excess grease.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and simmer 1–2 minutes until heated through and slightly thickened.
  4. Serve the beef over hot rice; garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Can substitute ground chicken or turkey for beef.
  • Serve over white, brown, or Jasmine rice.
  • Add steamed or sautéed veggies for a more balanced meal.
  • Meat is done when it reaches 160 °F internal temp.
