Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken and Broth:

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

Gravy Mix:

  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet chicken gravy mix

Seasonings and Garnish:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place Chicken in Slow Cooker: Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Prepare Gravy Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, gravy mix, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme until smooth.
  3. Cook Chicken: Pour the mixture over the chicken. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and shreds easily.
  4. Shred Chicken: Remove the chicken, shred with two forks, and return to the crockpot.
  5. Add Sour Cream: Stir in the sour cream until the gravy is creamy and combined.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the chicken broth with dry white wine.
  • This recipe works well with boneless chicken thighs for a juicier texture.
