Learn how to make delicious Crockpot Apple Butter with this easy recipe. Slow-cooked to perfection, this homemade apple spread is a must-try for fall!

Ingredients

Apples:

6 pounds apples (peeled, cored, and chopped – use a mix like Fuji, Gala, and Granny Smith)

Sugar Mixture:

1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup brown sugar (packed), 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare Apples: Place the chopped apples in the crockpot.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Pour over apples and toss to coat.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until apples are very soft and dark brown.
  4. Thicken: Uncover, stir in vanilla extract, and cook on low for an additional 1–2 hours to thicken, stirring occasionally.
  5. Puree: Use an immersion blender to puree the apple butter until smooth or blend in batches using a standard blender.
  6. Store: Let cool completely, then store in jars in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

  • For a smoother, thicker texture, cook uncovered with the lid slightly ajar during the last few hours.
  • No need to add water — the apples release enough liquid on their own.
