Ingredients

Units Scale

Salmon Tenders:

  • 1 lb skinless salmon fillets (cut into strips)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Breading:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs (beaten)

Other:

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 12 teaspoons hot sauce (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Salmon: In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add salmon strips and marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Breading: In separate shallow bowls, place flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Coat the Salmon: Remove salmon from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in flour, dip in egg, then coat with panko.
  4. Fry the Salmon: Heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry salmon tenders in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Prepare the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, warm honey with hot sauce and red pepper flakes until just simmering. Drizzle hot honey over salmon tenders or serve on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For an oven-baked version, bake at 425°F for 15–18 minutes or air fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes.
  • Adjust the hot honey’s spice level to your liking.
