Salmon Tenders:
1lb skinless salmon fillets (cut into strips)
1cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Breading:
1cup all-purpose flour
1cup panko breadcrumbs
2 eggs (beaten)
Other:
Vegetable oil for frying
1/4cup honey
1–2 teaspoons hot sauce (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Marinate the Salmon: In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add salmon strips and marinate for at least 20 minutes.
Prepare the Breading: In separate shallow bowls, place flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Coat the Salmon: Remove salmon from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in flour, dip in egg, then coat with panko.
Fry the Salmon: Heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry salmon tenders in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Prepare the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, warm honey with hot sauce and red pepper flakes until just simmering. Drizzle hot honey over salmon tenders or serve on the side for dipping.
Notes
For an oven-baked version, bake at 425°F for 15–18 minutes or air fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes.
Adjust the hot honey’s spice level to your liking.
